| Wetland Plants In the wetlands you will find a very diverse population of plants. Many of them you can’t find anywhere else. It is estimated that 30% of the plants in the world are found in the wetlands. This is why it is such a major concern that they are being destroyed. Many of these plants have adaptation capabilities but not when their environment is being so rapidly destroyed. These plants do much more than just survive in that habitat. They are able to filter the air we breathe so that it is much better than it would otherwise be. As the wetlands are destroyed the amount of carbon dioxide that stays in the air is too high for our comfort. This can result in more people having asthma and serious breathing problems. These wetland plants are also able to capture wind and water that would otherwise result in damages such as ruining crops from the powerful gusts or flooding from too much water getting into certain areas. The exact types of plants that will grow in a certain wetlands area vary significantly. Some of them are only known to grow in one certain area of the wetlands. Others seem to be growing like crazy everywhere you look to take an inventory of them at wetland locations. Some of the most valuable plants in these wetland areas aren’t easily identified for that reason though. They may be viewed as weeds and rubbish. It is only once you learn about the various characteristics of wetland plants that you will see them for what they really are. This type of research can be very involved but also a very interesting hobby to pick up. There is definitely a diverse population of great plants to be found in the wetlands. Seeing them destroyed and becoming extinct isn’t what we want to do with our world. We also need to fully understand all of the benefits that they wetlands offer us. The plants are just a small part of the entire make up of this environment. Each aspect of it depends on others. If you destroy the plants in these locations it isn’t just the quality of the air that will suffer. You also risk the animals that survive in the wetlands by eating such plants to die off as well. Wetland Animals: There are many different types of animals that thrive in the environment that the wetlands provide for them. One of the most common found in this area is the mallard duck. Even though it may look to the naked eye that not much is taking place here that would be incorrect. There are plenty of animals that get all they need in the environment offered by the wetlands. From researching the various animals that live in the wetlands it is known that they are able to adapt quite well to their surroundings. This is good news because it means they should be able to survive if the natural climate changes. However, there is very little hope for them when man steps in and completely destroys all they at they rely upon for their survival. |
